Fifty Days of Prayer | Day 18
Praying for Church Planting through the Book of Acts
Peter witnessed the Roman centurion and his family received both the gospel and the Holy Spirit. Upon returning to Jerusalem he was met with traditional Jews who did not understand how a good Jew like Peter could be eating with Gentiles (11:2-3). So, with new understanding into his original vision, Peter explains both the vision from the Lord and the reception of Cornelius and his family. So, we pray for a God-given vision of a family or group of people that the Spirit is drawing to himself that we can meet and share the good news with.
Recounting his entire experience with Cornelius he ends by asking, "If then God gave the same gift to them as he gave to us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could stand in God's way?" (11:17). The Jews responded by glorifying God because he had granted salvation to Gentiles (11:17-18). So, we pray for the ability to receive whatever work God may perform, even if it is unexpected or unusual.
